Driving to Your 10fifty Mountain Bike Holiday
Chamonix is located in the Northern Alps and the Chamonix Valley has borders with both Switzerland and Italy. The importance of the Mont Blanc Tunnel in Chamonix to trans-alpine transport means that it is very well connected by road.
Driving from England, or other European countries, is an option for many guests. It is over 500 miles from Calais to Chamonix, and whilst the traffic on the autoroutes is generally light, the tolls and fuel adds up. Remember that putting mountain bikes on an external rack will significantly increase fuel consumption, and wind noise! See our driving to Chamonix page for more details. Links page for ferry / Channel Tunnel websites.
Talk to the office and we can provide you with directions and a map of the exact location of the chalet. Remember that a warning triangle, spare bulbs and first aid kit are compulsory in your car, or you could get in trouble. The speed limit on the autoroute is 130kph (about 85mph)in the dry and 110kph in the wet.
