Road Bike Tour Du Mont Blanc Holiday

Road Bike Tour Du Mont Blanc Story - Day Three

With bright and sunny skies overhead we road off for the last leg of our journey. Nick fresh from his nights kip was in no mood to hang around so he set the pace to the Col des Saises everyone else hanging on. After the previous nights storm the temperature was definately on the cooler side of things so the high tempo was not all that unwelcome.

Dropping down to Flumet my old knee injury started to rear it's ugly head so a coffee and a confrence was called for in a local bar. On one hand we could do the monster route which takes in the Col des Arravis and the Col de Columbiere down to Cluses and then a long drag back home, or hit the road to Megeve and Saint Gervais thus completeing the TMB but not doing the route we had intended to. I had to do the shorter route and the others with little persausion took the shorter option as well. It just meant that we would all have to do the route next year in full...

All to quickly we dropped into Saint Gervais and with a mere 500m of climbing to do we were back at the chalet to check out the latest on the Tour de France.

Three days and 7500m of climbing with 200 miles under our belts, we were completely knackered! We all were of the same opinion though that the trip was a complete success and worth every pedal revolution, well apart from the sodding 4 km to Grand Saint Bernard!
